    Repair your WindshieldIf your windshield has been cracked, you’ll need to get it repaired or replaced fast. Even a small crack can turn into a major problem if you allow it to persist longer than necessary. But the big question is, should you repair or replace your windshield?

    There are a number of factors to consider when deciding if you’ll repair or replace the windshield in your vehicle. Generally speaking, however, you’ll need to replace the windshield if the crack is very large. Obviously it costs more to replace your windshield, and it is also more time consuming.

    Windshield Repair

    Windshield repair can be done on your own with the use of one of the many windshield repair kits available for purchase. The cost of these kits vary but you can usually get one for under $100. If you prefer you can hire an auto glass repair specialist for the job – I suggest you visit my favourite auto body repair shop.  With their help it will take only about 30 minute to make the repair, at a cost of $50- $150. Always hire someone that Is skilled in repairing a windshield, because one wrong mistake could cause a grave amount of damage.

    Replacing your Windshield

    When your windshield is replaced the old windshield needs to be removed and a new windshield fitted for your vehicle. The auto glass specialist will use a special tool to break the windshield then clean the frame of the vehicle after the window is removed. It is quite the simple process, actually, as long as the right tool and the right amount of force is used. Be sure that you choose someone with plenty of experience replacing windshields, just as you find someone that is experienced with repair of the windshield.

    Replacing a windshield takes a bit longer. The actual replacement will take an hour or so, however, it is important to know that you won’t be able to drive your vehicle for several hours after the windshield has been replaced. The cost of replacing usually runs about $200 – $250.
