Energy report says B.C. natural gas reserves continue to increase Print E-mail

B.C.'s natural gas reserves have expanded with increased exploration, according to this year's oil and gas commission report.

The report said exploration and development have helped replace 177% of all natural gas production in the province last year, which has created the highest level of reserves in the province's history.

The results are based on production, geological and technical data used to provide a reasonable certainty of reported natural gas reserves. Despite the constant increase, the report said significant potential exists for increased natural gas development in the province.

Higher interest spurred on by advances in technology has increased drilling and exploration, which in turn has allowed producers to replace natural gas reserves faster rate than they're being depleted in B.C.
